Patna, March 12 (IANS). Bihar government has directed all districts to maintain strict monitoring and supervision to prevent black marketing and illegal storage of domestic LPG cylinders.

On Thursday, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh held a high-level review meeting with district officials and superintendents of police across the state to review the situation in view of concerns related to the current global energy scenario.

Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General were also present in this meeting.

The review meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Director of Information and Public Relations Department Anil Kumar, Special Secretary of Food and Consumer Protection Department Upendra Kumar and representatives of major petroleum companies.

During the meeting, the Development Commissioner directed all district administrations and police officers to strictly stop black marketing, illegal storage and unauthorized sale of domestic LPG cylinders.

Additional Chief Secretary Home Arvind Kumar Choudhary directed officials to conduct special surveillance drives in all districts and ensure regular inspection of LPG agencies, warehouses and distribution systems.

He warned that immediate legal action should be taken against persons or agencies involved in irregularities and authorities should ensure that domestic LPG cylinders are not used for commercial purposes.

Director General of Police Vinay Kumar directed Superintendents of Police across the state to keep a close watch on social media and take prompt action against those spreading rumors or indulging in black marketing.

It was also directed in the review meeting that control rooms should be set up in all the districts to redress public complaints related to LPG supply.

The district administration and police have been asked to maintain close coordination and ensure that consumers do not face any inconvenience.

Officials were directed to resolve complaints related to domestic gas cylinder distribution immediately to ensure uninterrupted supply.

Indian Oil Corporation Executive Director and Bihar and Jharkhand state chief Anup Kumar Samantrai clarified that there are sufficient LPG cylinders available in the state and the supply system remains normal.

He urged consumers not to panic and hoard cylinders unnecessarily.

He also informed that due to technical glitch in Indian Oil’s system, OTP verification for delivery has been temporarily suspended.

Representatives of petroleum companies further assured that there is no shortage in the supply of petrol, diesel or PNG gas in the state.
