Nashik, May 31 (IANS). The Government of Maharashtra has taken an important decision related to the administrative rights and responsibilities of three major religious trusts of Nashik district. Through an extraordinary gazette issued on 29 May 2026 by the State Law and Justice Department, some powers related to the management of these trusts have been transferred to the officers related to the Endowment Commissioner.

According to the notifications issued by the government, this decision has been taken in exercise of the powers under Section 8(2) of the Maharashtra Public Trust Act, 1950. Under this, some of the administrative and statutory powers exercised by the Endowment Commissioner have now been handed over to various Endowment Officers of Nashik.

According to the information published in the Gazette, all the rights and duties of the Endowment Commissioner under Section 50B (b) of the Maharashtra Public Trust Act in relation to the famous Shri Kalaram Mandir Sansthan located at Panchvati will now be discharged by the Joint Endowment Commissioner-2, Nashik. It is believed that this decision has been taken with the aim of making the administrative work of the temple institution more effective and streamlined.

Similarly, in the case of Shri Saptashringi Nivasini Devi Trust, a major center of faith of devotees located in Kalwan Taluka of Nashik district, the powers of the Endowment Commissioner have been handed over to the Senior Endowment cum Commissioner, Nashik. Now all the administrative and statutory work related to this trust under Section 50B (B) will be done through the said officer.

At the same time, important changes have also been made in relation to the Shri Trimbakeshwar Sansthan Trust, which operates the Trimbakeshwar Temple, which is included in the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country. As per the notification, the powers and duties of the Endowment Commissioner attached to this Trust will now be discharged by the Senior Joint Endowment Commissioner, Nashik.

The Government of Maharashtra believes that this decentralization of powers will speed up the administrative work of the Trusts and make the decision making process more effective. This is expected to increase transparency and accountability in the operation, financial management and other administrative matters of religious institutions.
