Mumbai, May 19 (IANS). Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the state government is focusing on effectively implementing various schemes of the central and state government to provide better and easily accessible health services to the people across Maharashtra.
He directed all the departments to work in mutual coordination and complete the construction work of Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Critical Care Block and Lab within the stipulated time, so that the health system of the state can become more effective, quality and people friendly.
Chief Minister’s War Room has been created to monitor social sector schemes. Under this arrangement, Chief Minister Fadnavis reviewed various central and state schemes of the Health Department.
In the meeting, the pending works related to Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, strengthening of health infrastructure under the 15th Finance Commission, Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, establishment of new medical colleges and HPV vaccination campaign were reviewed in detail.
The Chief Minister said that the government is laying special emphasis on providing quality and accessible health services in both urban and rural areas of the state.
He said that after studying the health system of many states including Tamil Nadu, an action plan has been prepared for Maharashtra and now it is necessary to implement it effectively.
The Chief Minister said, “It is important to utilize the funds received from the Central Government on time. Therefore, all District Magistrates should personally monitor the construction works of Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Critical Care Block and Integrated Public Health Laboratories. There was a delay in the beginning, but now the performance of the districts is satisfactory.
He said that work is still slow in some districts, hence all the districts will have to focus on completing the projects within the stipulated time.
The Chief Minister said, “There should be no lack of coordination between departments in pending projects. The work should be completed with positive administrative thinking.
He also stressed the need to change the mindset of considering the health sector as a low priority.
The Chief Minister said that quality, cleanliness and better branding should be visible in government health facilities. The authorities have to change the perception that the level of cleanliness and services in government hospitals is poor.
He also encouraged the officials to adopt new technology and said that modular technology enables better quality and time bound construction.
Referring to the transformation that took place in a primary health center in Pune, he said such experiments should be done in other parts of the state also.
The Chief Minister said, “Every officer should take responsibility for his work, so that people can clearly feel the improvement in the government health system.”
He directed to immediately remove the obstacles being faced in the establishment of medical colleges and said that the deadline decided in the meeting has been officially recorded.
“Progress will be reviewed in the next war room meeting and officials are expected to fulfill the promises made today,” he said. Do not keep cases pending and increase follow-up.
The Chief Minister said that if the problem is not being solved at any level, then it should immediately be taken to the Head of the Department, Secretary, Chief Secretary, Minister or Chief Minister. There should be no delay.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that projects related to Ayushman Arogya Mandir and medical colleges are being taken forward rapidly, so that the health infrastructure of the state can be strengthened.
He said, “Strengthening health facilities is the main objective of the government. Ayushman Arogya Mandir Yojana is being constantly reviewed. Upgradation of primary health centers will provide better facilities to the people in both rural and urban areas. Medical college projects will also increase human resources in the health sector.
