Sharad Pawar’s health has deteriorated. He has been admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune for treatment. After the death of Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar was traveling between Mumbai, Pune and Baramati for the last several days. Party workers were also continuously coming to meet him. During this time his health deteriorated. He was admitted to the hospital due to fever and throat infection. When he was admitted to the hospital, his daughter Supriya Sule was with him.

Sharad Pawar was coughing since Monday morning (February 9). So it was decided to take him to the hospital. Doctors at Pune’s Ruby Hall Clinic said that after the examination, it will be decided whether Sharad Pawar will remain in the hospital or he will be allowed to go home.

Sharad Pawar is currently a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. This is his second term in the Upper House. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in April 2020. He served as MLA from 1967–72, 1972–78, 1978–80, 1980–85, 1985–90 and 1990–91. He served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra four times: from July 18, 1978 to February 17, 1980, from June 26, 1988 to March 1990, from March 1990 to June 25, 1991, and from March 6, 1993 to March 14, 1995. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from July 1980 to August 1981, from December 1983 to January 1985, and from March 1985 to December 1986. He served as the Union Defense Minister from June 1991 to March 5, 1993. He was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1993 to 1995. He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council from March 25, 1995 to May 20, 1995.
