Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday expressed confidence that a change is on the way in the state’s political system in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections in April, and asserted that the NDA will win against the DMK and Congress.
Addressing a massive gathering at the concluding ceremony of state BJP president Nainar Nagendran’s marathon yatra on Sunday, Shah announced, “The NDA government will be formed in Tamil Nadu in April 2026.”
Referring to the electoral victories in recent years, he said, “2024 and 2025 were the years of victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party; now, 2026 will be the year we bring that mandate to Tamil Nadu and Bengal.”
The Home Minister urged the citizens of Tamil Nadu to unite and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “vision of a developed India”.
Shah’s speech formally confirmed the BJP’s alliance strategy under which it will form an alliance against the currently ruling DMK. He announced that the BJP was ready to lead a “strong alliance” with the AIADMK and other regional allies.
“The final battle of the alliance of BJP, AIADMK and other parties will be against the Congress and DMK,” Shah said.
The Home Minister criticized the current administration, terming the DMK government as the “most corrupt government” in the country. Accusing the ruling party of failure, he said, “The DMK government has failed on every front. If anywhere in India there is the most corrupt government, then unfortunately it is in Tamil Nadu.”
Expressing concern over public safety, he claimed, “There is no guarantee of safety of women and daughters in Tamil Nadu.”
He further alleged that DMK rule is focused on nepotism rather than public service. “The Tamil Nadu government has only one objective, and that is to make Chief Minister Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin the chief minister of the state,” he said.
Appealing to the public, Shah said, “The time has come to end dynastic politics in Tamil Nadu.”
