On Friday (April 10, 2026), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took oath as a Rajya Sabha member at the Parliament House in Delhi. With this, a new political journey has started for him. The Vice President administered the oath to Nitish Kumar. Going forward, Nitish Kumar is expected to resign from the post of Chief Minister of Bihar. It is believed that he may submit his resignation after returning to Patna from Delhi on April 14. A meeting of the legislative party is likely to be held before the resignation, during which the new leader will be selected. The new government in Bihar may be formed on April 15. It remains to be seen who will become the next Chief Minister.
It is worth noting that by taking oath as Rajya Sabha member, Nitish Kumar has become the fifth leader from Bihar to have served as a member of all four legislative houses—Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Apart from Nitish Kumar, other leaders who have served in all four houses include RJD national president Lalu Prasad, RLMO chief Upendra Kushwaha, former Union minister Nagamani and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
RJD says: Prediction came true
RJD issued its reaction after the swearing-in ceremony of Nitish Kumar. Posting on ‘ He had bluntly and bluntly announced, ‘Between 2025 and 2030, Nitish’s game will be over!'”
He further said, “Today the real face of BJP’s conspiracy has been exposed, and the political chapter of Nitish Kumar ji has been forcefully ended. ‘Bhunja Party’ [JD(U) के लिए इस्तेमाल होने वाला एक बोलचाल का शब्द] It is now ‘game over’ for JD(U), and JD(U) is completely in trouble. This was the destined outcome of those who stole the people’s mandate and then shamelessly challenged the people themselves. It is now certain that these opportunists will be completely wiped out from the political scene of Bihar.”
