Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday announced that more than 10,000 ‘Vikas Mitras’ working in villages to benefit from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be given a lump sum allowance of Rs 25,000 to buy tablets so that they can do their work effectively.
He said that his transport allowance will also be increased from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,500 per month and their stationery allowance will be increased from Rs 900 to Rs 1,500 per month.
The government has also decided to give Rs 10,000 to more than 30,000 education servants and Talimi Markaz connecting children from Mahadalit, minority and extremely backward communities with formal school education.
The Chief Minister said that it has also been decided to increase the amount to be paid for teaching material from Rs 3,405 to Rs 6,000 per year per year.
Kumar made these announcements at a time when there are a few weeks left for the assembly elections in the state.
He said in a post on X, “Our government is continuously working for the upliftment of the deprived sections of the society.”
He said that tablets for ‘Vikas Mitras’ working under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department will help them to store the data of the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.
