Grand alliance’s chief ministerial candidate in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, on Sunday expressed confidence of the alliance’s victory in the assembly elections, saying there is a “good” atmosphere in the state.
Yadav said Bihar will vote for the changes during the first phase and again on November 11. He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of avoiding the issue of reservation in the state.
Tejashwi said, “Today is the last day of election campaigning. The atmosphere is very good. The people of Bihar have voted for change and the same will happen on November 11.”
Tejashwi Yadav told reporters, “Be it the Prime Minister or any other minister, no one is talking about the reservation that we gave during our 17-month government. The Prime Minister ate 65% of the people’s reservation. He should talk about what he gave to Bihar and Gujarat.”
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal supporters sang and danced outside Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Patna on the occasion of his birthday. Posters of ‘Bihar CM Tejashwi Yadav’ were also put up outside his residence.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday targeted the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the alleged incident of VVPAT slips being found scattered near KSR College in Sarayaranjan assembly constituency of Samastipur district.
Sharing a video clip on social media platform X, RJD accused the Election Commission of misconduct and called it a “Commission of thieves”.
The party raised questions as to how and why the VVPAT slips were taken out and left on the road.
The party wrote on Twitter, “A large number of VVPAT slips from EVMs were found scattered on the road near KSR College in Sarayaranjan assembly constituency of Samastipur. When, how, why and on whose orders were these slips thrown? Will the Thieves Commission answer this? Is all this happening at the behest of the dacoits of democracy coming from outside and camping in Bihar?”
Campaigning for the second phase of Bihar elections will end on Sunday evening, after which the second phase of voting will take place on November 11. The results will be declared on 14 November. There was 65.08 percent voting in the first phase of elections, which is the highest ever in the history of the state.
