New Delhi, 21 September (IANS). Congress National General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the central government over India’s foreign policy towards Palestine. He appreciated the decision of Australia, Canada and Britain to recognize Palestine as a ‘independent and sovereign nation’.

Priyanka Gandhi wrote in a post on social media platform ‘X’, “India was among the first countries in 1988 to recognize Palestine as a nation. At that time and in fact, during the heroic struggle of Palestinian people, we showed the world by standing for the right struggle and maintaining the values of humanity and justice.”

He cited Australia, Canada and Britain, saying that these countries recognized Palestine with a delay of 37 years. He wrote, “Australia, Canada and Britain have also adopted the same path with a delay of 37 years.”

Taking a dig at the current policy of the central government, Priyanka said, “Our policy towards Palestine in the last 20 months has been shameful and devoid of moral purity. This is a sad loss of the earlier adventure.”

This statement of the Congress MP has come at a time when the debate over the Israel-Pilistine struggle is intensified. India has strengthened strategic and defense relations with Israel in recent years, which the opposition repeatedly shows as ‘apathy towards Palestine’.

Explain that Australia, Canada and Britain on Sunday recognized Palestine as ‘independent and sovereign nations’ as part of a historical and coordinated international attempt.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has thanked Britain, Canada and Australia and described it as a ‘decision in line with adventure and international law’.

The official ‘X’ post of the ‘States of Palestine’ wrote, “The Ministry of External Affairs and the Migrant Ministry welcomes those countries and thank them who have recognized Palestine as an independent and sovereign country. The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia’s adventurous decisions consider to be in line with international law and international validity resolutions.”
