Kolkata, May 30 (IANS). Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee faced heavy protests on Saturday in Sonarpur in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. Some local residents present at the spot also expressed their displeasure. A person alleged that Abhishek Banerjee is responsible for snatching people’s jobs.
He said that he has played a role in the loss of employment of lakhs of people and that is why anger among the public is increasing against him. A large number of local people, including women, started raising slogans against Abhishek Banerjee. The protesters called him a ‘thief’ and expressed their anger against him. During this, Abhishek Banerjee got down from his car and proceeded on the motorcycle of a local TMC worker.
Another local resident said that the person whose house is named ‘Shanti Niketan’ has created unrest in the area. Through this statement he indirectly targeted Abhishek Banerjee.
According to the information, after receiving the notice for questioning from CID, Abhishek Banerjee left for Sonarpur from his Kalighat Road residence in Kolkata. On the way, some women protested by showing him black flags in Kamalgazi area. After this, on reaching Sonarpur the protest intensified.
This entire incident has created a new controversy in the politics of the state. Now the phase of political debate and allegations and counter-allegations has intensified regarding the protests during Abhishek Banerjee’s visit.
