New Delhi, June 30 (IANS). Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kewal Singh Dhillon met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday and discussed in detail important issues related to the development and infrastructure of the state.
During the meeting, Dhillon thanked the Central Government and Union Minister Gadkari for the ongoing National Highway and other development projects in Punjab. He said that the Central Government is continuously working on a large scale to strengthen the road infrastructure of Punjab.
On this occasion, Union Minister Gadkari said that under the Bharatmala Project, the Central Government is building a large network of modern highways and expressways across the country.
As part of this initiative, Jamnagar-Amritsar Economic Corridor is also being built, which will connect Punjab with major commercial hubs of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
He said that these projects will not only improve transportation but will also give a big boost to industry, trade, employment and economic development, which will greatly benefit Punjab.
State BJP chief Dhillon said that all the road projects in Punjab are being built with central funding, which shows the visionary thinking and commitment of the central government.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is only trying to take credit through advertisements instead of doing any major development work itself.
He further said that the BJP led central government is fully committed to the all-round development of Punjab.
He said that if BJP’s ‘double-engine’ government is formed in Punjab in 2027, the pace of development will further accelerate and the state will benefit from many big infrastructure projects.
Earlier this month, Dhillon had met party president Nitin Naveen here and thanked him for handing over the leadership responsibility in the state and assured to work closely with the party leaders.
He thanked BJP President Naveen for handing over the leadership of the Punjab unit of the party and assured that he will take along every section of the party and will work closely with the leaders, officials and workers of the state.
