New Delhi, December 5 (IANS). Political reactions have intensified amid flight cancellations and delays at IndiGo airline for the third consecutive day. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a major attack on the Central Government, calling it the result of the government’s ‘monopoly model’ economic policies.
While sharing an article published in the newspaper on the social media platform ‘X’, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Indigo fiasco is the price of the monopoly model of this government. Again common Indians are facing delays, cancellations and helplessness. India needs fair competition in every sector, not monopoly like match-fixing.”
Through his published article, Rahul Gandhi said that today the country is standing at a juncture where it will have to choose between fear and a free business environment. The East India Company had taken away the voice and today the new monopoly is bringing back the same fear. The East India Company had silenced India not by force, but by the policy of ‘monopoly and pressure’. Today, a similar environment has been created by some industrialists, who have created huge wealth but have increased economic inequality in the country.
The Congress MP alleges that the institutions of the country no longer belong to the people, but seem to be serving these monopoly groups. Millions of small businesses are going bankrupt and the country is not able to create jobs.
Regarding the business community of India, Rahul Gandhi said that they are afraid even to talk on the phone. Are they afraid that a monopoly group and the government might come together and enter their sector? Be forced to sell your business due to fear of raids by IT, CBI and ED. Capital may be stopped or rules may be changed and there may be a sudden attack.
However, while mentioning some industrialists and companies, he said that they work honestly. Rahul Gandhi said that these companies show that great success is possible in India even without monopoly.
The Congress MP said that his politics always stands for the protection of the weak and voiceless, but now he has understood that the business community is also standing in a ‘line’ and injustice is being done to them in that line. The government cannot promote any one business at the expense of others. Government agencies should not be used to intimidate or exert pressure. Banks should also support ‘Play Fair Business’ instead of relying only on 100 big borrowers. He said that do not wait for change in this country, you are the change that will bring employment and development in India.
