Hardoi, January 20 (IANS). Congress is running ‘Save MNREGA Campaign’ after renaming MNREGA as ‘Vikas Bharat-Ji Ram Ji’. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed that MNREGA is not just a scheme but the self-respect of the poor and labourers. BJP MP and Minister of State Dinesh Pratap Singh on Tuesday took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, calling him politically poor and unemployed.
Speaking to IANS, Dinesh Pratap Singh said, “Those who were born with a gold spoon in a silver plate, they also know the poor. I feel sad that such people talk about poverty whose generations had raised the slogan of removing poverty in this country, but poverty has not gone away. If poverty has gone away, it has gone away under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today I am proud of the fact that ever since PM Modi came, not a single person in the village has gone without food. Must not have slept on an empty stomach. Everyone is living happily according to Indian culture.
He said, “Our government has given a lot of possibilities in this scheme for the benefit of the poor. If the work which was done earlier under MNREGA has ended, then what will we do next? By making the Gram Sabhas more prosperous, we will provide work as per the expectations of the villagers and develop infrastructure. Such work was not done earlier under MNREGA.”
The BJP MP said, “Earlier, this was not the process to set up small industries whenever needed and poor people can also get employment. Such infrastructure should be developed which becomes a source of income not just for one but for several five years in the future. A Gram Sabha should become prosperous and become self-reliant for the development of its village. If PM Modi is trying to do this, then I do not think that any poor person is being harmed by this.”
Dinesh Pratap Singh said, “If anyone is being harmed by this scheme, then it is only Rahul Gandhi who is being harmed. Everyone else is getting rich under the leadership of PM Modi. There is only one poor left in the country, who is facing political poverty. Rahul Gandhi is politically poor and unemployed because of his conduct. The people of India do not want to give him employment.”
