Prime Minister Narendra Modi heartily congratulated Samrat Chaudhary on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar, succeeding Nitish Kumar.
He said that Choudhary’s excellence, enthusiasm and experience will benefit the state and lead it towards development.
He wrote, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Samrat Chaudhary on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar! His energy, dedication to public service and grassroots level experience will prove extremely beneficial for the state. I am confident that under his able leadership, Bihar will scale new heights of all-round development, fulfilling the aspirations of the people,” he wrote.
Prime Minister Modi also congratulated Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav on taking charge as Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar.
In another post, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in both the Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, saying, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav on taking oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar! I am confident that their experience at the grassroots level and their commitment towards public welfare will provide a new direction and momentum to the development of Bihar.”
Along with this, the state will set new standards of good governance, transparency and public welfare.”
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Chaudhary was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
Chaudhary reached Bihar Lok Bhawan, the Governor’s residence, this morning, where he took oath as the Chief Minister. He replaces Nitish Kumar, who served as the state leader for more than a decade before deciding to move to the Rajya Sabha.
Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office to Samrat Chaudhary at Lok Bhawan in Patna. After the resignation of Nitish Kumar, Samrat Chaudhary has become the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister of Bihar.
The 57-year-old leader faces a significant challenge as he prepares to succeed Nitish Kumar, who was sworn in as chief minister for a record 10th time in 2025 following the NDA’s historic victory in the assembly elections.
His promotion marks the end of the era dominated by Nitish Kumar’s “good governance” and the beginning of a new chapter for the NDA in Bihar.
Chaudhary’s rise to power is remarkable, especially considering his humble beginnings in politics. He started his career with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the 1990s and later joined BJP in 2018.
Senior Janata Dal (United) leader and Bihar Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and party leader Vijay Kumar Choudhary took oath as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
