Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many Congress leaders congratulated party parliamentary party chief Sonia Gandhi on her birthday on Tuesday.Sonia Gandhi turned 79 on Tuesday.
The Congress said Sonia Gandhi’s visionary leadership not only guided the party but also changed the face of India through landmark rights-based laws like MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) and the National Food Security Act.
Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday congratulated Sonia Gandhi on her birthday and wished her good health.
Modi posted on ‘X’, “Happy Birthday to Sonia Gandhi Ji.” Wishing him long life and good health.
Congress posted on ‘X’ that Sonia Gandhi lives her life with unwavering integrity, compassion and courage.
“His visionary leadership not only guided the Congress, but also transformed India through landmark rights-based laws: MNREGA, Right to Education, Right to Information and the National Food Security Act,” the main opposition party said. These provided millions of jobs, hope, education, voice and respect.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said, “Birthday greetings to Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi.” His life reflects sacrifice, selfless public service and determination to uphold secularism and constitutional values.”
“His principled path and guidance will continue to strengthen our collective efforts for a progressive and inclusive India,” he said.
Sonia Gandhi, the longest serving Congress President, has not been very politically active for the last few years due to health reasons. His son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are playing important roles in the party.
At present, along with being the President of the Congress Parliamentary Party, she is also a member of the Rajya Sabha.
