Lucknow, January 27 (IANS). Samajwadi Party (SP) has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) UP regarding alleged irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Uttar Pradesh.

On the instructions of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, the party has complained about the irregularities taking place during SIR in Kasganj, Bahraich, Farrukhabad and Basti districts. In the memorandum, SP has alleged that there is bias in the process, due to which the voters of SP supporting booths are being affected.

The memorandum makes special mention of Kasganj assembly constituency (booths 1 to 200), where most of the booths are dominated by SP supporters. The party claims that the BLO (Booth Level Officer) is giving only 12 hours time to the notice holders at SP-supported booths, while adequate time is being given at BJP-supported booths. The BLO is accused of ignoring the rules and providing fewer forms to new voters and not doing door-to-door verification. SP has accused some officers engaged in SIR of working as BJP agents and demanded their immediate removal. The party said that the son (block chief) of the present MLA is working to cut off SP voters in SIR.

There is an allegation of excluding women (daughter-in-law) of Nepal origin from the SIR process in Nanpara assembly constituency of Bahraich. Despite having residence certificate, caste certificate, ration card, Aadhaar and voter ID, they are being turned back after asking for marriage and migration certificates. Due to this, thousands of women may be deprived of becoming voters. SP has demanded that the problem should be resolved and women should be included in the voter list.

In Booth 128 (Bangashpura and Manihari) of Farrukhabad, there is mention of the old list being combined and in the 2003 verification, only the voters of Bangashpura were verified. Around 300 voters of Manihari were put in the deletion list, while notices were issued for not receiving the details for 2003. SP has demanded investigation and cancellation of the deletion.

In Basti, more than 1 lakh voters with no-mapping and logical errors are being issued notices and called for hearing in a short time, due to which voters are not able to attend. The party has demanded that booth-wise list of notices (ERO name, hearing venue, date etc.) be made available to political parties and BLAs so that they can help voters.
