New Delhi, June 12 (IANS). The Central Government seems to be fully alert to conduct the NEET re-exam in a fair, safe and transparent manner. In this sequence, Cabinet Secretary Dr. TV Somanathan reviewed the preparations for NEET re-examination in a meeting with the Director General of National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday.

During the review, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized on conducting the re-examination in a smooth, transparent and secure manner through close coordination between all concerned. NEET re-examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 21, 2026.

The Cabinet Secretary said, “The Central Government, State Governments and district administrations are working in close coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the NEET re-examination. Anyone who tries to distort, disrupt or tamper with the fairness or smooth conduct of the re-examination in any way will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

TV Somanathan reviewed the arrangements with secretaries of the central government and related agencies on June 1. Subsequently, on June 4, he also held a review meeting with the Chief Secretaries of the State Governments to take stock of the preparations and progress of the arrangements.

The main objective of these meetings is to establish effective coordination between various agencies, strengthen security and administrative preparedness and maintain the credibility and sanctity of the NEET re-exam at all costs.

The Central and State Governments are jointly preparing for the NEET re-exam on a large scale, so that lakhs of students can get a fair and safe examination environment.

CBI is continuing its investigation in the NEET paper leak case and has made several arrests, while protests by student organizations are also continuing in many parts of the country. Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the preparations for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination by holding a meeting with officials at the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters ahead of the re-test.
