Kolkata, May 17 (IANS). West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday paid tribute to his late personal assistant Chandranath Rath at his residence. During this, the Chief Minister met the victim’s mother and assured the family that justice would definitely be provided.
Chandranath’s mother Hasirani Rath told the media that he (Suvendu Adhikari) also cried. I have faith in the Chief Minister. I hope that justice will be given in the case of my son’s murder.
He said that it is my great good fortune that he came to my house. He remembered my son. Many people forget everything after getting a post. But they came and cried. The Chief Minister said that he is with us. They will give harshest punishment to the culprits.
He further said that those who killed my son should be given strict punishment. We have faith in the Chief Minister. They also wanted strict punishment for the culprits. We have appealed for justice. When the CBI investigation progresses, we will know everything.
On the night of May 6, Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant was shot dead in Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas district. Chandranath was sitting next to the driver in the car at the time of the attack. The driver was also injured in the firing.
According to reports, the attackers came on a motorcycle and opened fire. After the incident, Chandranath and the injured driver were taken to the hospital, but doctors declared Chandranath dead.
After this, the state police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder. In this case, investigators arrested two people from Uttar Pradesh and a sharpshooter from Buxar, Bihar. However, who was the main conspirator and whose conspiracy led to this murder is not yet known. At present, CBI is investigating this matter.
