New Delhi, May 8 (IANS). BJP has once again launched a major attack on Trinamool Congress regarding the political violence in West Bengal. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala claimed that the murder of Chandranath Rath, personal assistant of newly elected BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari, was a well-planned and conspiratorial contract killing.
Shehzad Poonawala told IANS that this incident is a direct result of TMC’s jungle raj, political hatred, political vendetta and political violence in West Bengal. He alleged that not only Suvendu Adhikari’s PA, but BJP worker Rohit Roy was also shot. Apart from this, two-three other party workers have also been murdered.
He said that in the last 10 to 12 years, more than 300 BJP workers have been murdered by people associated with TMC. Shahzad Poonawala alleged that Trinamool Congress has institutionalized political violence.
The BJP spokesperson also referred to a statement by TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee. He said that Abhishek Banerjee had said that ‘even your father will not come to save you from Delhi’ and the current incidents are a direct result of that statement.
Shehzad Poonawala claimed that after the formation of the BJP government in West Bengal, all the people behind this violence will be identified and they will be forced to answer as per the law.
At the same time, JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also reacted to the political situation in West Bengal. He said that Mamata Banerjee should accept the mandate of the people.
Neeraj Kumar said that it is his right to analyze the election results but under the constitutional system, when a government loses the confidence of the assembly, it also loses the confidence of the public. He said that allegations and counter-allegations have their place, but challenging the Constitution and remaining adamant sets a wrong tradition.
