New Delhi, December 22 (IANS). Controversy continues regarding making Geeta recitation mandatory in schools of Uttarakhand. Samajwadi Party MP Rajiv Rai gave his reaction on this on Monday. He said religious texts should be taught in schools, but it should not be imposed.
Speaking to IANS, Rajiv Rai said, “Religious texts should not be imposed in schools. Children of which religion are there in the school? If we are imposing texts of some other religion on them, then it is not right.”
On the results of local body elections in Maharashtra, he said, “Questions are being raised on the election process from the beginning. I sent a complaint to the Parliament, to the Commission and even to the District Magistrate, but there was no hearing on it and cognizance was not taken. In such a situation, the election process is under suspicion.”
Regarding Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi leaving the alliance after not getting the Rajya Sabha seat, the SP MP said, “Manjhi has also said how they steal votes and make the loser win. He has spoken the truth, which the government has not even denied. They have a conspiracy among themselves.”
On RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement on Hindu solidarity in West Bengal, he said, “It is the BJP people who are making the situation worse. The person who took the name of Babri Masjid was a BJP man, was sent to TMC in a planned manner and was allowed to become an MLA because he could not become an MLA from BJP. After this, he was made to talk nonsense, on which Mamata Banerjee took action. I appreciate it.”
Rajeev Rai further said, “BJP follows the policy of the British ‘Divide and Rule’. India will foil their conspiracies. We all should think that the country should remain united, the borders should remain secure, and our people should get employment.”
