Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday during the court proceedings, Chief Justice (CJI) Justice BR. Strongly condemned the attack on Gawai and accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “silence” at the center.
Tejashwi said, “This incident is the result of hate and normalization of violence, which has been getting government protection since 2014. It is very worrying that the person holding the highest position of the country’s judiciary faced such a derogatory situation. This is a shameful chapter in the history of our democracy. ”
He further said: “The shoe is actually thrown on the thinking and constitution of the revered Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, not on the CJI. Some fundamentalists are poisoning in the name of religion. Now it seems that no one is safe in the country.”
According to police, a 71 -year -old lawyer allegedly tried to throw a shoe at CJI. A note was also recovered from him, in which it was written: “India will not tolerate insult to Sanatan Dharma.”
Tejashwi questioned the BJP’s silence and said: “We wonder why the forces standing against the Constitution and Dalit interests are silent on this incident? The judiciary is the backbone of democracy, and it is the responsibility of all of us to protect its dignity.”
