Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary K.K. Palaniswami claimed that there was proof of security lapse by the stampede police and administration at the political rally of TVK here on Saturday.
Palaniswami On sundaySaid that if the police and the state government had taken enough precautionary steps, then such “tragedy” could have been avoided. In this accident, 39 innocent people lost their lives and 51 people were admitted to the hospital.
Palaniswami told reporters, “According to media reports, Vijay’s Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam (TVK) is evidence of security lapse. There was chaos and stampede due to disrupting power supply. TVK should have taken precautionary measures by focusing on the safety of its party workers, as it has held four meetings till now. ”He said that the police should have made security arrangements keeping in mind the crowd gathered in the previous meetings of TVK and based on the current situation of Karur Sabha. He said that the government and TV leadership should also consider the security system.
The AIADMK leader first visited Karur Government Hospital and talked to the patients undergoing treatment and also interacted with doctors.
Palaniswami said, “The public is involved in such meetings by relying on the party, the government and the police. The incident of killing so many people could be avoided. I am not blaming anyone. We lost many people. Such a tragedy did not happen anywhere. This is shocking. ”He emphasized that such tragedy never happened in the meetings of other political parties in the state.
