New Delhi, January 27 (IANS). In a major step towards strengthening public healthcare in West Delhi, Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGH) Dwarka has expanded several vital medical services, reinforcing the commitment of the CM Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government to provide accessible, timely and good quality healthcare to every citizen. Health Minister of Delhi Government, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh gave this information.
Dialysis services at the hospital have been significantly increased as part of the latest expansion, with the number of dialysis beds and machines being increased from 35 to 50. This improvement is expected to significantly reduce wait times for patients and ensure faster, seamless kidney care.
Further strengthening the diagnostic capability, a 500 mA X-ray machine has been installed in the Radiology department specifically for emergency and trauma cases, which will provide faster and more accurate imaging support for critical patients.
To improve surgical preparedness, timings of Operation Theater (OT) services have now been extended from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, thereby ensuring greater availability of surgical interventions and better patient outcomes.
Additionally, IGH has started corneal retrieval services in collaboration with AIIMS Corneal Retrieval Center under HRCT, a move that will boost eye donation and enhance transplant services for visually impaired patients.
The hospital has also emerged as a major center for neurological and mental health services through its Brain Health Clinic, launched in May 2025. The clinic provides integrated neurological and psychiatric care, seeing 20-30 neurology patients and 15-20 psychiatry and psychology patients daily. It provides comprehensive treatment and consultation for conditions such as headaches, seizures, stroke and behavioral disorders, ensuring holistic and patient-centric care under one roof. These developments reflect the Delhi government’s continued focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, expanding specialized services and improving emergency preparedness across all government hospitals.
Commenting on the expansion of services at Indira Gandhi Hospital, Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government is continuously working to provide good quality healthcare to every citizen. The expansion of specialized facilities like dialysis, radiology, OT services and brain health clinic at IDH Dwarka reflects our commitment towards reducing the burden of patients and strengthening timely treatment. Our focus is not just on adding infrastructure, but “It is also about ensuring compassionate, comprehensive and effective treatment for the people of the United States.”
The Government is committed to further modernizing healthcare facilities and ensuring that government hospitals are equipped to meet the needs of the growing population efficiently and effectively.
