New Delhi, June 21 (IANS). To ensure that students appearing for the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam do not face any inconvenience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi waited for some time at the Delhi airport on Saturday and left for his official residence only after the exam began.

Prime Minister Modi’s plane, which returned from Kolkata after leading the main program of the 12th edition of International Yoga Day, landed at Delhi airport at around 1:15 pm. He had to go directly from there to his official residence.

However, the NEET-UG 2026 exam was scheduled to start at 2 pm. In such a situation, the Prime Minister decided that he would stay at the airport itself, so that the students going towards the examination centers do not have to face any traffic related problems due to the movement of his convoy.

This decision of the Prime Minister was also taken with the aim of maintaining smooth traffic system in the city. After the commencement of the examination, he left for his residence just after 2 pm.

Meanwhile, amid tight security arrangements, more than 20 lakh candidates in the country and abroad are appearing for the NEET-UG re-exam.

Earlier, some candidates present outside various examination centers for the national level medical entrance examination had told IANS that after the alleged paper leak incident on May 3, there is doubt in their minds about their preparation and examination.

At the same time, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while wishing all the best to the candidates on Saturday morning, appealed to them to appear in the examination without any fear and worry.

He also informed that the results of more than 15 lakh students who applied for revaluation of CBSE Class 12 marks are ready and will be released soon.

Speaking to the media, the Education Minister said, “The re-examination is being conducted today. I have full faith in the National Testing Agency (NTA), all state governments, district administrations, the education system of India and especially the students.”

He said, “Around 22 lakh students will soon appear for the NEET exam. Take the exam without any fear and worry. You will definitely perform well. My best wishes to all the students. Students have faith in India’s system and I hope that this faith will continue in future also.”

The Education Minister warned that strict action will be taken against those who try to play with the future of the new generation of the country.
