New Delhi/Ujjain/Indore, February 23 (IANS). Union Communications and North Eastern Region Development Minister and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia will be on a visit to Ujjain and Indore districts on Tuesday. As per his scheduled programme, he will address the Gramin Dak Sammelan organized in Ujjain and will honor the postal servants who provide excellent services. State Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also be present in this program.
During the conference organized in Ujjain, topics like strengthening the rural postal network, expanding digital services, accelerating financial inclusion and ensuring effective reach of government services to common citizens will be discussed. Scindia will highlight the role of Gramin Dak Sevaks as an important link in providing communication and banking facilities to every village.
After his stay in Ujjain, the Union Minister will reach Tigaria Rao in Indore, where he will participate in local programs and interact with public representatives and citizens. On this occasion, discussion on various topics related to regional development is also proposed.
This visit of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reflects the commitment of the Central Government towards modernization of rural postal services, digital empowerment and regional development.
Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Sunday that people’s trust in India Post remains strong, and currently more than 38 crore savings accounts are being operated through post offices across the country.
Earlier on Sunday, Scindia, while addressing a conference of over 9,000 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, stressed the role of postal employees in strengthening financial inclusion and last-mile connectivity.
Scindia said that Gramin Dak Sevaks play an important role in connecting rural communities and providing essential communication and financial services.
He described Gramin Dak Sevaks as an important link between the government and rural citizens, who help in providing services to remote and underserved areas across the country.
Emphasizing the scale of India Post’s financial network, the Minister said that more than 38 crore Post Office Savings Bank accounts are currently operational, with deposits of about Rs 22 lakh crore.
