New Delhi, July 5 (IANS). Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam targeted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on several issues. He alleged that BJP and its governments give priority to religious and communal issues instead of development.
Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam, speaking to IANS, said, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his party know nothing except Hindu-Muslim issues. They do not know how to run a government. The language of their leaders is not uniting but dividing the country.”
Referring to the alleged theft case related to Ayodhya Ram temple, he said, “Even during the tenure of the government, there have been incidents of theft in temples, due to which the faith of the people has been hurt. What steps has the government taken so far to stop such incidents.”
The Congress leader also raised questions on the law and order of Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that the government relied more on harsh police action rather than the judicial process. He said, “The government should have faith in the law and the judiciary. Just talking about strict action does not strengthen law and order.”
Rajendra Pal Gautam also raised the issues of unemployment, recruitment examinations and farmers in the state. He said that the youth are not getting adequate employment and many recruitment examinations have been in controversies. The government has not been able to give the expected results on issues related to farmers, labourers, Dalits and women.
He said, “There should be effective control on serious matters like Dalit oppression and crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh. The government should work on these issues on priority, but instead religious issues are being given more importance.”
Making a personal comment on Yogi Adityanath, Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “India’s strength lies in its diversity. The country is made up of many religions, languages, castes and cultures. The aim of politics should be to unite the society, not to create division.”
Regarding the objection of Trinamool Congress MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad on the adult advertisement broadcast during the T20 match between India and England, Rajendra Pal Gautam said that the government should make a clear policy on this subject.
He said, “The entire family sits together and watches cricket matches, which also includes children. In such a situation, the government should take appropriate decisions regarding such advertisements. There is also a need to understand the importance of adult education in the society.”
