Bhubaneswar, January 23 (IANS). Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Friday, on his first visit to Odisha, attended the Parakram Diwas celebrations at the birthplace of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Cuttack. He said that Netaji’s call still inspires courage and determination among Indians.
He was received by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. The Vice President was also given a guard of honor upon arrival.
Recalling the rousing tune of the Indian National Army’s marching song “Kadam Kadam Badhaaye Jaa” at the Valor Day celebrations at the birthplace of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, he said that Netaji’s call still inspires courage and determination among Indians.
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan urged citizens to take a collective pledge to work towards a Developed India@2047, taking inspiration from Netaji’s vision of a strong, self-reliant and powerful nation.
After this, the Vice President honored freedom fighters Mayadhar Mallik and Wing Commander BS Singh Deo (retd) and also honored the families of INA ex-servicemen at the Parakram Diwas function in Cuttack.
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan said the country will always be indebted to the freedom fighters and our brave soldiers for their courage, sacrifice and selfless service. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was an extraordinary personality. Odisha is a land of rich art, culture and history. It is because of heroes like Netaji that India is breathing freedom.”
The Vice President then inaugurated the INA Postal Stamp Gallery at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birthplace Museum in Cuttack, Netaji Sanskriti Bhavan and an exhibition organized by the Ministry of Culture. He said such initiatives will inspire the younger generations to know about the life, sacrifices and lasting legacy of Netaji.
The event included curated exhibitions and cultural presentations that showcased Netaji’s vision for a strong, united and self-reliant India.
Today the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is being celebrated as Valor Day. He was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack.
