Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha (LOP) Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reiterated his claim of providing “explosive” evidence of alleged vote theft in the earlier assembly elections.

Talking to journalists, Gandhi said that theft of votes is a “fact”.

He further said, “We are going to give you solid and explosive evidence. The slogan of ‘Vote thief, Gaddi Chor’ is echoing all over the country. The fire is spreading because it is true. It is true that governments are being formed by stealing votes. We guarantee that we will provide you with evidence.”

Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations against the Election Commission (ECI) of India at a press conference on 7 August, and accused him of directly involved in voter fraud, while the Congress has “open and clear evidence” of alleged theft.

Gandhi presented Congress research on voting in Mahadevpura assembly elections in Karnataka. He accused 1,00,250 votes of “vote theft”.

He made a scathing attack on the BJP and the Election Commission and said that there was a “collusion” between the Election Commission and the BJP, resulting in Prime Minister Narendra Modi achieved his third term.

He also criticized the Election Commission and alleged that the elections were “employed”.

Prior to the upcoming assembly elections, Gandhi started a 16 -day ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, in which RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also joined him.

The purpose of this campaign was to raise awareness about the alleged irregularities in the voter list, which the opposition leaders have described the case of vote theft. The journey concluded on 1 September, completing a journey of more than 1,300 km in 20 districts.

Earlier in Madhubani, Bihar, Gandhi had alleged that BJP’s vote theft started from Gujarat and in 2014 it reached the national level.

Gandhi, who was present in Rae Bareli, met a delegation of employees of Feroz Gandhi Unchahar Thermal Center under the National Thermal Electricity Corporation (NTPC), where he stayed last night. Local people of Rae Bareli and Unchahar are also meeting him.
