New Delhi, July 2 (IANS). Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Ritabrata Banerjee said that a delegation of 10 TMC MLAs met the Election Commission. After this Banerjee told the media that we are All India Trinamool Congress and we have two-third majority.
While talking to the media, Banerjee said that on June 22, a representative session of ours was held in Kolkata, on the basis of which All India Trinamool Congress was elected and Arup Rai was elected the chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress (rebel faction). As soon as we had this special meeting, we sought time to meet the Election Commission on June 23. We had requested the Election Commission that whatever delegation of members they allow, we will come here and meet the entire bench. We would like to thank the Election Commission that the entire bench of the Election Commission met us. We hope that the Election Commission will contact us soon.
He said, “We are the All India Trinamool Congress. More than two-thirds of the MLAs, Zilla Parishad members, councilors etc. are all with us. In such a situation, there is no point in demanding (regarding TMC’s election symbol). Whenever such a session is held in the party, the Election Commission should be immediately informed about it. We are thankful that the entire bench met us.
He said that a grassroots party was captured by a bureaucrat. It used to be a grassroots party, but gradually it narrowed down to one person. If anyone has been involved in the syndicate. Be it sand, coal, dolomite, cattle or any kind of corruption, action should be taken against them. The public opinion against Trinamool Congress is actually a verdict against corruption as well.
He said that it is not that I am saying this personally. We are talking collectively. He said that the people of Bengal do not support familyism.
