The second phase of voting in West Bengal ended on Wednesday (April 29, 2026). Along with this, the results of the exit poll have also come out. Meanwhile, a survey conducted by ‘Poll Diary’ shows that the Congress party is going to gain a lot. According to the latest survey of Poll Diary, Congress seems to be winning 3 to 5 seats in Bengal. Apart from this, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is expected to get 127 seats, BJP 171, Left Front 3 and ‘Others’ 1 seat.

Poll Diary’s survey suggests that Congress seats may increase five times; The special thing is that in the 2021 assembly elections, Congress could not win even a single seat, whereas TMC formed the government with an overwhelming majority by winning 213 seats. BJP was reduced to only 71 seats. However, this time BJP’s figures seem to be improving.

Record voter turnout in both phases in West Bengal

According to the Election Commission, the two-phase assembly elections in West Bengal recorded a record voter turnout of 92.47 percent, the highest participation rate since independence. As of 7:45 pm, voter turnout in the second phase of assembly elections in West Bengal stood at 91.66 percent. In the first phase of elections held on April 23, 93.19 percent voter turnout was recorded. “The total voter turnout in both the phases combined was 92.47 percent,” the commission said. There are 6.81 crore voters in West Bengal. Earlier, the highest voter turnout in the state was recorded at 84.72 percent during the 2011 assembly elections. In the current election cycle, participation of women voters was slightly higher than that of male voters. According to the Election Commission, 92.28 percent eligible women voters cast their votes, while the figure for male voters was 91.07 percent.
