Bihar Bankipur By-Election 2026: The political turmoil has intensified even before the by-election on Bankipur Assembly seat of Patna, which is considered the most popular seat of Bihar and a traditional strong seat of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP is constantly under attack from the opposition regarding candidate selection. First the party changed the ticket of its declared candidate who had already filed nomination and now a big discrepancy in the biodata of the new candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha has further intensified the political debate.
Questions are being raised regarding age and membership in Yodata
When BJP announced Neeraj Kumar Sinha as its new candidate from Bankipur seat, an official biodata was also released along with him. His date of birth was recorded as 1 July 1994 in this document. At the same time, it was also mentioned in the same biodata that he started his political career by taking primary membership of BJP in the year 2006.
This information became a major cause of controversy. If the year of birth is considered to be 1994, then his age in the year 2006 would have been around 12 years. Questions started being raised on social media regarding this mathematics whether a person at the age of 12 can become a primary member of a political party. Opposition parties also raised questions on BJP’s preparations and credibility of documents regarding this issue.
Revised biodata issued as controversy escalates
After the controversy escalated, BJP released the revised biodata of Neeraj Kumar Sinha within some time. In the new document, the date of birth was kept the same as before, but the mention related to taking membership of the party in the year 2006 was completely removed. However, no official explanation was given by the party regarding this change. After two different biodata came out, the opposition has raised questions on the election preparations, calling it negligence on the part of BJP.
First the decision to change the candidate also became a topic of great discussion.
This controversy has come to light at a time when BJP had withdrawn the ticket of its declared candidate Abhishek Bunty a day earlier and fielded Neeraj Kumar Sinha. Abhishek Bunty had also filed his nomination papers. Later he gave personal reasons behind withdrawing his candidature.
However, there is already discussion in political circles that there could be other reasons behind changing the candidate. According to party sources, in view of some old cases related to Abhishek Bunty’s family and alleged technical glitches in the nomination papers, BJP decided to change the candidate at the last moment.
The competition with Prashant Kishor’s entry was very interesting.
Let us tell you, Bankipur assembly seat has been considered a strong stronghold of BJP for a long time. But this time the contest has become quite interesting with the entry of Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor into the electoral fray. Political analysts believe that every decision on this seat is being taken very thoughtfully and that is why the party seems to be extra cautious regarding candidate selection.
