CG Weather Update: With the intensification of pre-monsoon activities in Chhattisgarh, the weather pattern has now completely changed. Incessant rains and strong winds have seriously affected life in many parts of the state. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the south-west monsoon has now reached very close to the border of Chhattisgarh and favorable conditions are being created for its entry into the state in the next 2-3 days.
Due to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, the temperature has dropped by about 5 degrees Celsius in many districts including the capital Raipur, which has provided some relief to the people from the scorching heat. However, this change in weather is also becoming a cause of danger in many places.
Today Meteorological Department issued orange alert in 17 districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in 17 districts of the state for Friday. There has been a warning of heavy rain and stormy winds at a speed of 50-60 kilometers per hour in these districts. The districts included in this alert include Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Korea, Surajpur, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Surguja, Jashpur, Korba, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Sakti, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Bemetara, Raipur, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Rajnandgaon and Balod. Yellow alert has been issued for other districts.
In the capital Raipur too, there is a possibility of cloudy sky, rain with thunder and strong winds. The Meteorological Department has estimated that the maximum temperature in the city may be around 41 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may be around 26 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, amidst this deadly weather condition, a painful incident has come to light. Three people died due to lightning in Antagarh development block under Kanker district, while 5 other women were injured. The deceased have been identified as Santosh Patel, Prakash Patel and Deputy Sarpanch Manraj Patel.

According to the information, pond deepening work was going on under the government scheme in Kalgaon, where about 70 laborers were working. During this time the weather suddenly deteriorated and this accident occurred due to lightning. After the incident, the villagers immediately took the injured to the hospital, while the administration and police reached the spot and started relief work.
Four of the injured are undergoing treatment at Antagarh Hospital, while a seriously injured woman has been referred to Kanker for better treatment. The administration has ordered an investigation into the incident.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people not to go in open places during bad weather and stay in safe places. The weather is expected to remain more active in the coming days.
