Chhattisgarh 208 Naxal surrender: A historic and positive change has been seen in Chhattisgarh today. Today, on October 17, 2025, a total of 208 Naxalites have surrendered leaving their deadly weapons in the Dandakaranya area of the state. This surrender is not only big in numbers, but it is a clear indication that Naxalism is in its last stages. After this big incident, the Abhujmarh area will now be almost completely Naxal free and the ‘Red Terror’ from North Bastar will almost end. Now only some problems are left in South Bastar, which are expected to end soon. This success is the result of continuous hard work and strong will of the Central Government and Chhattisgarh Government. In the last two days, a total of 258 Naxalites have returned to the mainstream in both the states of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, including 197 from Chhattisgarh and 61 from Maharashtra. Today’s surrender is the biggest mass surrender of Dandakaranya so far, in which many big Naxalite commanders are also included.
Home Minister Amit Shah praised: target is Naxal free India by 2026
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has described this surrender as ‘historic’. He said that “Abujhmad and North Bastar are now Naxal free. This is a big achievement for peace and development.” Shah reiterated that the central government’s clear aim is to eliminate Naxalism from the entire country by March 31, 2026. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also expressed happiness over the incident and said, “This is a new era of peace and development. Naxalism is losing on every front.” Describing the state’s surrender policy as successful, he said that Naxalites have now understood that it is better for them to leave the path of violence and return to the mainstream.
Treasure of deadly weapons: 153 weapons surrendered
These surrendered Naxalites have also deposited 153 deadly weapons with them in government custody. These weapons were a symbol of the strength of the Naxalites, but now they are returning to the path of development and peace. The surrendered weapons include both modern and old weapons.

153Ray of development in Naxal stronghold: beginning of new life
Abujhmad, a dense and inaccessible forest area of Chhattisgarh, had been the last major stronghold of Naxalites for years. With today’s surrender, this area is now almost free from the clutches of Naxalism. With peace returning to North Bastar, development work will now take place at a rapid pace here – roads, schools and hospitals will be built, so that people can live a normal life without any fear. The government has prepared a comprehensive rehabilitation program for the surrendered Naxalites. Under this program, they will not only be given amnesty but will also be given help in living a new and better life: Economic help: Financial assistance to get a job or start their own small business. Training: Skill training, such as education in farming or trade. Security: Providing security to the family in view of the threat from Naxalite organizations. Education: Sending their children to school for better education. Many Naxalites have already surrendered and returned to the mainstream and are now living a happy life. Are. This program is the biggest and most effective weapon to root out Naxalism.
