The Congress on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of coming to power in Madhya Pradesh through ‘false’ guarantees in the elections and said that even after being the Chief Minister for two years, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has failed to fulfill the promises of his own party.
Congress has made this allegation in the background of the comment of Madhya Pradesh Government Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, in which he had said that the states are facing huge financial difficulties in fulfilling the promises made at the time of elections.
Vijayvargiya made this comment in the regional meeting of Urban Development Ministers organized by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry in Bhopal.
He had said that the expectations made regarding the budget at the time of elections are not fulfilled in reality and due to this the states are now forced to look towards the central government.
He said that not only Madhya Pradesh, but almost every state has the same situation.
He said, “The economic pressure on the states has increased due to election promises and commitments. In such a situation, the schemes can be taken forward only with the help of the Central Government.
Referring to Vijayvargiya’s comment, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari said that he is accepting that at the time of elections, many announcements were made in the name of ‘Modi’s Guarantee’ to woo the voters, which are now not possible to be fulfilled.
In a post on ‘X’, he said that the state already has a debt of Rs 4.65 lakh crore and this is the situation when more than 95 percent of the election promises remain unfulfilled.
Patwari reminded the farmers of many other election promises including Rs 2700 per quintal of wheat, Rs 3100 per quintal of paddy, providing one employment to every family, Rs 3000 per month to the beloved sisters and a package of Rs 3 lakh crore for tribal families, and said that today not a single promise has materialized.
He said, “That is, the people of the state were cheated by showing false ‘Modi’s guarantee’. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, in two years your government could not fulfill its own promises. It is clear from this that the very basis of BJP’s politics is a lie.
Let it be known that BJP had secured two-third majority in the 2023 assembly elections. In this election, BJP got 163 seats in the 230-member assembly, while Congress was reduced to 66 seats.
