Police have made serious revelations in the case related to notorious gangster Praveen Valmiki gang of Haridwar-Roorkee. According to the police, Praveen Valmiki is accused in dozens of criminal cases like murder, attempt to murder, illegal extortion, kidnapping and illegal possession of land in Haridwar and Dehradun of Uttarakhand and is currently serving a sentence in jail.
Police allege that despite being in jail, Praveen Valmiki used to run his criminal gang. This gang included Manish Bowler, Sher Singh and Hasan Abbas Zaidi and others, who used to intimidate the local people, capture their lands and earn money illegally.
According to investigation, the gang also targeted a widow woman from Roorkee. It is alleged that the woman’s brother and brother-in-law were first shot by the gang members. After this incident, out of fear, the woman left Roorkee with her children and started living at another place. During this time, his land was allegedly illegally encroached upon and sold on the basis of fake documents.
Police say that when the victim came to know about this entire matter and started legal action, she and her family were continuously threatened. It is alleged that Sher Singh, who was posted as a constable in Uttarakhand Police at that time, misused his position and met gangster Praveen Valmiki several times in Sitarganj jail and Roorkee court. After this, pressure was put on the victim to withdraw the case and she was allegedly threatened even during her appearance in the court.
According to the police, Sher Singh along with other gang members also played a role in the sale of disputed land and earned illegal profits from it.
In this case, case number 415/2025 was registered in Ganganahar police station, Haridwar district. In the case, action was taken under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 111(2)(B), 351(2) and 352 of the Indian Judicial Code (BNS).
On the basis of sufficient evidence, the police arrested the accused Sher Singh on 15 September 2025 and sent him to jail. Later he got bail from Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital on 7 November 2025.
