Ranchi, June 14 (IANS). CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya has launched a scathing attack on the Central Government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand, rising inflation, unemployment, education system and alleged irregularities in the voter list. In the press conference held after the state committee meeting, CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the Rajya Sabha elections have emerged as a big challenge for Jharkhand.
CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, speaking to reporters, said that Indi Alliance has fielded two candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. Indi Alliance has enough MLAs and their votes are also in favor of Indi Alliance. Despite this, BJP is trying to cause political sabotage by putting forward industrialist Parimal Natwani.
Referring to the recent meeting of the Indi Alliance, the leaders said that there is a need to further strengthen the spirit of mutual respect, trust and collective leadership among all the parties involved in the alliance. Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the BJP is trying to weaken the alliance through the Rajya Sabha elections, but their MLAs are united and the BJP’s strategy will not succeed.
Dipankar Bhattacharya said that there is a lot of resentment among the youth across the country regarding the examination system. Demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, he said that the agencies responsible for conducting the examinations are continuously failing and no examination is being conducted smoothly. The movement of youth regarding this issue is gaining momentum.
Attacking the central government on inflation, he said that the government wants to blame the economic crisis on international wars. He said that if war is the cause of the crisis, then the government should also explain why it supported Israel. He alleged that India’s foreign policy has failed and due to this the security of the country’s sailors and citizens has been affected. The leaders said that falling value of rupee, rising rates of petrol and diesel and inflation are the result of policy failures of the last several years.
Announcing the “Reduce Prices, Give Living Wage” campaign, Bhattacharya said that a massive movement would be launched in rural areas from June 15 to July 15 and across the country in the month of August. Serious concern was also expressed over alleged irregularities in the voter list. Dipankar Bhattacharya claimed that preparations are being made to remove the names of about 1.40 lakh voters in Jharkhand on the basis of various technical and so-called ‘logical discrepancies’.
He alleged that lakhs of voters had to face difficulties due to a similar process in West Bengal. Protecting the right to vote in democracy has become the biggest challenge today. Along with this, BJP was accused of weakening the multi-party democracy in the country and it was said that the party is not limited to just gaining power, but wants to establish a one-party system by eliminating the opposition parties. To protect democracy and the Constitution, parties with different ideologies will have to unite and fight.
