Chhattisgarh News: A terrible accident occurred in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night. The lift at the RKM Powergen Private Limited power plant in the district suddenly fell down from its height. In this accident, four laborers traveling in the lift died on the spot while six others were seriously injured. The injured are being treated at Jindal Fortis Hospital in nearby Raigarh. At present the exact reason for the accident has not been revealed.
There were 10 workers in the lift
Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma said that a total of 10 laborers were in the lift. They were coming down after their daily work, when the lift suddenly collapsed. All the workers were seriously injured by this incident. Four laborers were declared dead on the way to the hospital.
Lift Capacity and Recent Maintenance
SP Ankita Sharma said that the load capacity of the lift was around 2000 kg and its maintenance was done recently on September 29. However, officials have started investigation to find out the cause of the accident. Initial reports also revealed that the lift was overloaded as the workers inside were more than the rated capacity of the lift.

Police and power plant management are thoroughly investigating the accident. Officials say that further action will be taken only after the real cause of the accident is revealed. At the same time, condolences have been expressed towards the families of the deceased and arrangements are also being made for better treatment of the injured.
