Haridwar: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday inaugurated the modern sports complex built by Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) in Roorkee. State-of-the-art sports facilities have been provided to the players in this sports complex, built at a cost of about Rs 3 crore 75 lakh. During the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the complex and also interacted with the players and sports coaches and inquired about their needs.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is giving top priority to the development of sports in the state. He said that modern sports infrastructure plays an important role in honing the talent of the youth and preparing them to compete at the national and international level.
He said that it is the effort of the government to provide better training and modern facilities to the players in every district of the state, so that the talented youth of rural and urban areas get equal opportunity to move ahead.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sports culture in the country has got a new identity. The Uttarakhand government, through its sports policy, is also encouraging the players, making better arrangements for training and providing all possible support to the players who perform excellently.
The Chief Minister said that this sports complex built in Roorkee will prove to be a big gift for the players of Haridwar and surrounding areas. This will increase interest in sports among the youth and they will get better practice and training facilities, so that they can bring glory to the state and the country by performing excellently in various competitions.
Modern facilities for indoor sports have been developed in the newly constructed Sports Complex. The campus has been provided with necessary resources for various sports activities including state-of-the-art gym, badminton court. This center will also be useful for regular practice of players, training camps and organizing sports competitions.
On this occasion, Transport Minister Pradeep Batra, BJP District President Madhu Singh, Roorkee Municipal Corporation Mayor Anita Aggarwal, Fair Officer Kumbh Sonika, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh Bhullar, HRDA Secretary Pratyush Singh and many public representatives, administrative officers, sports department officials, trainers, players and a large number of local citizens were present.
