Raipur, May 30 (IANS). Police have arrested the accused in the case of rape of a girl in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh. The accused was absconding after the incident, and the police was successful in catching him with the help of cyber cell. According to the information, this incident took place in Malkharauda police station area of Sakti district. Police officials said that the victim had reached the police station on May 25 and lodged a complaint.
The complaint said that he was identified through Instagram with 26-year-old Rakesh Tandon, a resident of Themhapara in Masturi police station area of Bilaspur district. The conversation between the two increased on social media and they also started meeting each other. The accused had allegedly assured the girl of marriage and called her to Mission Chowk on May 11.
It is alleged that the young man took the girl to a deserted place on a motorcycle. He allegedly forcibly raped the girl while threatening to kill her. The victim also alleged in her complaint that the accused took her to Bilaspur and broke the SIM card of her mobile on the way. After this, she was kept in a house in Karad-Malkapur area of Maharashtra via Gondia, where she was subjected to continuous physical abuse with threats of harm to her family members.
After the complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and started investigation. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the search for the accused was intensified under the direction of Superintendent of Police Prafulla Thakur, Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Patel and SDOP Bhuvaneshwari Pankra. During the investigation, information was received that the accused had come to his home. After this, with the help of cyber cell, the police team surrounded and arrested him. During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing the crime, after which he was arrested. Police said that the investigation of the case is continuing.
