Uttarakhand News: The electoral chessboard for 2027 elections in Uttarakhand is not yet completely laid, but Bahujan Samaj Party has again started sharpening its old social engineering weapon. Party supremo Mayawati has made it clear that this time the fight will not be just for seats, but to rewrite the story of Bahujan power. The only difference is that this time more trust is being placed on locality meetings and booth chaupals than on the crowd at the forums.
The interesting thing is that while other parties are busy preparing for helicopter and hi-tech campaign, BSP has come out to work out political calculations through small meetings in the village streets. The party believes that in big rallies the leaders are seen more and the public listens less, whereas in small meetings the ground truth of unemployment, migration, reservation and government schemes comes out openly.
Mayawati’s message
Mayawati has given a clear message to the workers that the Bahujan alliance will have to be strengthened by including Dalits, backward classes, Muslims, minorities and economically weaker upper castes. That is, BSP is now trying to show that it is not just a party of one caste, but is the political umbrella of all those who are remembered at the time of elections, but are buried under the files as soon as they come to power.
BSP third option?
Till now, there has been a tradition of BJP and Congress forming governments alternately in the politics of Uttarakhand. In such a situation, BSP is trying to present itself as a third option. However, the question is also being raised in the political circles whether the public will vote for the third option or like every election, it will be forced to choose a less bad option at the last moment.
BSP’s vote bank is slipping
The BSP leadership is also afraid that its traditional vote bank is gradually shifting towards other parties. Perhaps this is the reason why Mayawati has specifically warned the leaders to beware of the vote-cutting policy of the opposition parties. At the same time, the workers have also been given the task of reminding the public about the old administrative decisions and welfare schemes of the BSP governments because the files of old achievements in Indian politics are dusted off and taken out again as soon as the elections come.
Regarding candidate selection, Mayawati has also given a clear indication that only rich people will not get tickets. This time the party is talking about betting on such candidates who have strong local hold and who can create social equations. However, political experts say with a smile that when elections come, ground hold and economic strength are often seen traveling in the same vehicle.
At present, the strategy of BSP is clear, to bring the Bahujan votes back on one platform and to make the voters trapped between BJP-Congress realize that the third door in politics is not closed yet.
