Ind vs pak cricket match: The final of the Asia Cup 2025 played between India and Pakistan filled the cricket lovers with thrill. Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav on the Dubai ground, made history by defeating Pakistan. But this match was not limited to victory just. What happened after the match shocked the entire cricket world.
Team India refused to take the Asia Cup trophy after the victory. The protest was directly against Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The atmosphere was so hot that the drama continued for about two hours and finally Naqvi left from there. Whatever happened after this, he worked to add ghee to the fire.
When the trophy became the reason for the controversy
It was time to honor the players after the match. The stadium was packed and the audience was waiting for the trophy to pick up the trophy. But then the Indian team flatly refused that they would not accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. The reason was clear that Naqvi is also a big leader associated with Pakistan’s politics. The matter was so impaired that Naqvi left from there with the trophy and medal. This issue has now become the reason for new tension between India and Pakistan.
BCCI Secretary’s big charge
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devjit Saikia, openly expressed displeasure over the entire incident. He said that Indian players had decided not to take the trophy only. But this did not mean that Naqvi should take the entire trophy and medal with him.
Saikia said, “This is very unfortunate and unfair. We hope that the trophy and medals will be returned to India as soon as possible. The BCCI will officially lift the matter at the ICC meeting to be held in November.”
Referring to “Operation Fort”
Saikia further termed it as a major victory of India and said that this is not just the result of the game, but also a befitting reply to hostile attitude. Giving the example of army action on the border, he said, “Earlier Operation was vermilion and now Operation Fort. This is the best answer from India on the grand final in Dubai.”
He believes that whether the leaders of Pakistan are in the field or on the border, India is capable of responding strongly everywhere.
Why did India play against Pakistan?
Saikia also replied to the question why India played the match against Pakistan, while the bilateral series between the two countries has been closed for years. He said that the BCCI follows the policy of the Government of India.
“India does not compete with Pakistan in bilateral tournaments. But playing in multinational competitions is our compulsion, as India may be banned from international federations when it retreats. So we have to get into a tournament like Asia Cup.”
