New Delhi, November 5 (IANS). According to the information given by the Central Government on Wednesday, 100 5G labs have been created across the country with the aim of preparing India for leadership in 6G technology.
According to the Ministry of Communications, the Department of Telecommunications led the session on ‘Digital Communication’ while participating in the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2025.
The session was chaired by Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Telecom Secretary and Chairman, Digital Communications Commission.
Dr. Mittal said in his address that telecommunication has become a powerful medium for the economy as well as all the technologies developing in various sectors.
He said that connectivity is the foundation of all productive activities and India’s telecom revolution has a direct impact on the economic development of the country.
Dr. Mittal said, “Because of PM Modi’s vision, India has achieved the fastest 5G rollout in the world and 100 5G labs have been created across the country to develop use cases and prepare the country for leadership in 6G technology.
“This area presents a new opportunity for all of us to make the impossible possible,” he said, highlighting the transformative power of connectivity and the rapid development of AI.
Dr. Mittal also talked about ‘Bharat 6G Alliance’, a pioneering initiative inspired by the vision of PM Modi. He said the India 6G Alliance has already signed 10 international collaborations with global 6G bodies and aims for India to contribute 10 per cent of 6G patents worldwide by 2030.
Telecom Secretary Dr. Mittal said that the government’s approach towards next-generation communications is multi-dimensional, promoting research and development, promoting domestic manufacturing and building a strong bridge between academia, industry and government.
Giving information, he said that more than 100 R&D projects dedicated to 6G are being supported, the aim of which is to promote indigenous chipsets, AI-based intelligent networks and innovation.
