Ahmedabad, March 6 (IANS). Adani Group has been named the official partner of World Engineering Day (WED) 2026 for Sustainable Development. This day is an international day declared by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).

This is the first time that an Indian organization has been selected by WFEO to honor the efforts of engineers on World Engineering Day.

India’s largest transport, utility and infrastructure developer company said this is a testament to Adani Group’s leadership in accelerating the clean energy transition and its ability to supply clean, reliable and affordable power at scale, strengthening India’s energy security as well as contributing to the global Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goal 7).

Sagar Adani, Executive Director, Adani Green Energy, said, “We are showing that clean energy can be scalable as well as affordable, it is powerful as well as inclusive. This is India’s contribution to the world and a model where progress and sustainability go hand in hand. Our Khavra Renewable Energy Plant is a symbol of India’s climate action. It is a collaboration of Adani Green Energy, Adani Energy Solutions and Adani New Industries “Reflects the collective strength of our community, working together to advance an integrated renewable future.”

The theme of ‘WED 2026’ is “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalisation”.

Adani Group’s work in the areas of renewable energy, digital infrastructure and large-scale transportation and utility systems clearly reflects this approach, showing how technology-based engineering can enable sustainable development in real conditions.

The Khavra Renewable Energy Project in Gujarat, with a planned capacity of 30 GW by 2029, has been highlighted by the World Engineering Organization (WFEO) as an important example of India’s green transition under its World Engineering Day 2026 program and a short film showcasing its sheer size, ambition and impact.

Built over 538 square kilometres, the project is five times the size of Paris and almost equal to the city of Mumbai. When completed, it will be the world’s largest power plant across all energy sources.

AGEN has commissioned a cumulative capacity of over 7 GW of renewable energy in Khavda so far and will deliver the entire 30 GW capacity by 2029.
