Mumbai, October 26 (IANS). Adani Ports and Special Economy Zone Limited (APSEZ), the country’s largest port developer and operator, will showcase at India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025 how the country is becoming self-reliant in the Blue Economy through technology and innovation.

IMW 2025, to be held at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai from 27-31 October, reflects the vision of India’s maritime sector. Organized by the Indian Ports Association (IPA) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the event is bringing together over 1,00,000 delegates, over 500 exhibitors, over 200 global speakers and participants from over 100 countries to chart the future of the global maritime economy.

Adani Group said in the statement that the main attraction at IMW will be the pavilion of Adani Ports, which will showcase its important role in the development of the country’s maritime sector. Adani Ports’ pavilion will highlight how technology and Make-in-India innovation are redefining the country’s maritime growth story.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend IMW 2025 on October 29, followed by the Global Maritime CEO Forum meeting, further underscoring India’s ambition to lead the maritime world.

Over the past decade, India’s maritime sector has grown rapidly under the twin framework of Sagarmala and Maritime Vision 2030, which includes over 150 initiatives across ports, shipping and inland waterways. These flagship programs aim to establish India as a Global Maritime Hub by promoting port-led development, reducing logistics costs and promoting sustainable coastal infrastructure.

At IMW 2025, the Adani Ports Pavilion is based on four key pillars – Self-reliant India, Women Empowerment, AI-powered Logistics and Impact. The main focus this year is on signing MoUs that will advance India’s port, dredging and port capabilities under the Make-in-India framework.

Under its Harbor Business, APSEZ will sign several long-term MoUs that will further strengthen its leadership in maritime services. The leading port company will sign MoUs with Mumbai Port Authority for supply and charter hire of six ASTDS tugs and one Green (GTTP) tug for 15 years, and with Tuticorin-based VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tamil Nadu, for charter hire of two harbor tugs for seven years.

Under the dredging segment, APSEZ will sign an MoU for construction of a self-propelled grab dredger, which will be another milestone in indigenous marine engineering.

India’s blue economy contributes about 4 percent ($13.2 billion) to the gross domestic product (GDP). It is rapidly becoming a major center of development in the fields of fisheries, renewable energy, coastal tourism and logistics. With 100 per cent foreign direct investment allowed in port infrastructure and green initiatives such as the Green Tug Transition Program (GTTP) and Green Ocean Guidelines, sustainability and self-reliance in the maritime sector is growing rapidly.
