Ahmedabad, June 10 (IANS). Indian company Adani Solar has achieved a major achievement. Adani Solar has been ranked sixth in the world in energy research and consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie’s ‘Global Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Module Manufacturer Ranking 2026’. This information was given on Wednesday.
Wood Mackenzie has given ‘Grade A’ rating to Adani Solar. The company has received this rating on the basis of superior performance on parameters such as manufacturing capacity, technology, financial strength, supply chain stability and operational performance.
This achievement is also special because Adani Solar has become the highest ranked Indian company in this list. This success has come at a time when India is working rapidly towards increasing domestic solar manufacturing capacity and reducing dependence on imports.
Adani Solar is the solar manufacturing unit of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL). The company has achieved sixth position this time, improving from eighth position in the previous ranking. According to the report, this is the only Indian company to be included in the global top-10 list.
The report evaluated 48 solar module manufacturing companies across the world, covering a range of aspects such as capacity utilization, technological maturity, financial performance, supply chain strength and operational efficiency.
Adani Solar is currently working rapidly towards increasing the capacity of its integrated manufacturing unit located in Mundra, Gujarat to 10 gigawatt (GW) annually.
The company currently has 2 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, while the solar cell and module manufacturing capacity is 4 GW each.
Meanwhile, Adani Wind, operating under Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), is also making achievements. It is the only Indian company to be included in Bloomberg NEF’s ‘Global Top-15 Wind Turbine Manufacturers’ list.
At the same time, in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2025-26, the company’s domestic solar module sales increased by 95 percent on a year-on-year basis to 1,459 MW.
The company is also consistently rated as a top performer in solar module reliability tests conducted by independent agency Kiva PVEL.
According to a recently released report by Morgan Stanley, renewable energy is a key pillar of India’s medium-term strategy, which aims to structurally reduce foreign energy dependence.
Solar module manufacturing capacity in the country has increased rapidly with the support of PLI (Production Linked Incentive) schemes and customs duty.
According to data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India’s solar module manufacturing capacity increased from 38 GW to 74 GW between March 2024 and March 2025, while solar cell manufacturing capacity increased from 9 GW to 25 GW.
