New Delhi, February 16 (IANS). AI Impact Summit 2026 started from Monday at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital. This conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Technology experts, startup representatives and policy makers from across the world are participating in the event. The conference is having a wide-ranging discussion on the revolutionary uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the fields of health, education and good governance. Organizers say that this expo will give new strength to the vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘AI for All’.
Speaking to IANS, BJD MP Sasmit Patra said that heads of various states are also attending this conference, which is an indication that India is taking important steps in the field of AI.
He said that through this event, innovation, entrepreneurship, research and development will be promoted in the country. Besides, intensive discussions are also taking place on issues related to policy and legislation. This summit shows that India is being seen as an AI hub globally and the use of AI platforms will prove to be effective in developing the country for the coming generations.
Responding to the India-US trade deal, Sasmit Patra said that there are many benefits in this agreement, although there are some concerns also. He said that the tariff has come down. Even if it’s not zero percent. India has already signed trade deals with the UK and EU and this agreement with the US has brought relief especially to the MSME sector, which was hit by high tariffs. However, he also said that the agriculture sector is a sensitive subject and it would be better to wait rather than draw final conclusions until the complete paper work is out.
On the issue of suspension of seven officials by the Election Commission in West Bengal on charges of negligence in SIR, he said that this is a very sensitive matter. It is important to ensure that the names of eligible voters are not deleted from the voter list. If eligible voters are deprived of the right to vote, it will not be fair to the democratic process.
He said that the Commission has taken action against negligent officers and there is a need to take special vigilance at the BLO level to solve the problems of the people.
