New Delhi, December 27 (IANS). According to a media report, accounts linked to Pakistan (especially those with links to security agencies) are uploading AI-generated deepfake videos and images on social media. Their main objective is to spread false narrative against India, incite communal tension and affect regional stability by spreading misinformation. This trend has intensified in recent months, with many media reports calling it an organized ‘disinformation campaign’.
International Business Times report said that journalists and analysts found that many viral posts came from X accounts linked to Pakistan’s military and intelligence.
Fact-checkers have debunked clips that mimic news formats but contain strange audio-visual glitches, repetitive eye movements, clipped dialogue and incorrect lip-sync.
“This trend is troubling for the stability of the region and for Pakistan’s own information ecosystem—and retaliatory measures will require international vigilance to prevent Pakistan from spreading misinformation on social media,” the report said.
Examples include an AI-generated clip featuring IAF Chief, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh is seen criticizing India’s Tejas fighter, and a clip featuring former Indian Army Chief V.P. Malik has been shown talking communally. Both the clips are fake.
The report said that the alleged circulator of such videos, ‘Pak Vocals’ account, was followed by Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ataullah Tarar, which shows that the country’s top leader is very interested in it and believes in taking it forward.
Furthermore, coordination styles, including rapid deletion after posting and increased network interaction, reflect a pattern of planned execution rather than novice execution. In media statements and press briefings, Pakistani officials have addressed the problem of “organized disinformation”, even as they themselves target people.
International conflicts have also been presented arbitrarily in this propaganda campaign of Pakistan. Examples include the Israel–Iran war in 2025, when several Pakistani news outlets showed video of an Israeli studio that was said to have been attacked. This was proved to be fake in fact check.
Similarly, AI (deepfake generated) videos of Indian journalist Palki Sharma Upadhyay are circulating on Pakistani social media networks. In the fake clip, he was shown questioning the diplomatic protocol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jordan.
