New Delhi, February 19 (IANS). On the fourth day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that AI is a transformative moment in human history and it will enhance human potential manifold.
Speaking in his keynote address at the summit, PM Modi said that AI is like a big technological change in the world. The only difference is that like before, it is not taking decades for new technology to arrive, rather this change is happening very fast.
He further said that today the journey from machine learning to learning machines is fast, deep and wide. We have to keep the vision big and fulfill the responsibility equally big.
Along with the present generation, we also have to worry about what form of AI we will hand over to the coming generations.
So, the real question today is not what AI can do in the future. The question is what do we do with Artificial Intelligence currently.
The basic objective of this summit is to make AI from machine centric to human centric and sensitive and responsive.
The PM said how India views AI. Its clear reflection is in the theme of this summit – Sarvajan Hitaya – Sarvajan Sukhaay.
This is our benchmark. For AI, humans should not become just data points, humans should not be limited to just raw material. Therefore AI needs to be democratized. It must become a medium for inclusion and empowerment in the Global South.
PM Modi further said that at present many big companies consider AI as a strategic asset and keep the code secret, but India believes that AI can be used for the good of the world only when its codes are made public.
