New Delhi, February 17 (IANS). Indian-American entrepreneur and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla made a big claim on Tuesday saying that by the year 2050, people may not need traditional jobs. He believes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing in every field and it can completely change the nature of employment.

Speaking at the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’, Khosla said that in the coming decades, AI systems will become more powerful and capable, which will completely change the future of jobs. He said that by 2025 it will become clearly visible that the traditional employment structure is changing rapidly.

Khosla, a Silicon Valley investor, said artificial intelligence could eliminate a large number of white-collar jobs. He warned that IT services and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies could almost completely disappear in the next five years.

He reiterated that the outsourcing industry could end by 2030. According to Khosla, many people in India are still not ready to believe that AI will have a big impact on the IT sector, but the rapid progress of technology will also affect those industries, which till now have been the basis of the country’s economic growth.

Khosla also criticized the tendency to work continuously for 15 to 20 years in big companies. He says that working in the same organization for a long time in a rapidly changing technological world can reduce the adaptability of professionals. Such people become less flexible in the changing industry environment.

However, amid the warnings, Khosla also praised India’s AI initiatives. He said that the India AI Impact Summit has been extremely successful and more than three lakh people have registered for it.

Supporting the ‘Sovereign AI’ model, he said that countries should develop their own AI systems, especially for sensitive areas like cyber security and defence, and not depend on foreign models. He said that he has invested in ‘Sarvam’ to support India’s AI ambitions.
