New Delhi, February 20 (IANS). Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said that ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ has been fantastic. In this, India has shown the world what its vision is regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and what it can do to take it forward.

Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of the summit in the national capital, the Tata Sons chairman said the event provided a platform to showcase all the country’s AI-related plans.

Earlier at the summit, OpenAI partnered with Tata Group to develop AI-based data centers locally, designed for data residency, security and long-term home capacity.

“I think it is a great summit where we are able to showcase all our initiatives and plans together to all the important leaders globally and to all the political leaders,” Chandrasekaran said.

OpenAI will be the first customer of Tata Consultancy Services’ Hypervault data center business. It will start with 100 MW capacity and over time it can be increased to 1 GW.

This infrastructure will enable OpenAI’s most advanced models to run securely in India, ensuring low latency while meeting data residency, security and compliance requirements. It is suitable for important and government functions.

Chandrasekaran said, “This strategic collaboration between OpenAI and the Tata Group is an important milestone in India’s aim to become a global leader in AI. We are extremely pleased to partner with OpenAI to establish state-of-the-art AI infrastructure in India.”

He further added, “This is a unique opportunity for OpenAI and TCS to transform industries and together, we will skill India’s youth and empower them to succeed in the AI age.”

Tata Group plans to implement ChatGPT Enterprise across its workforce over the next few years, starting with millions of TCS employees. With this it will become one of the world’s largest enterprise AI deployments.
